Riders Win in Shoot Out

The Cedar Rapids RoughRiders defeated the Team USA U-17s in a shootout Friday night in Plymouth, Mi. Harry Roy scored the game winning goal in the shootout.  Goaltender Troy Kobryn got his 1st USHL win. 

Joe Hankinson and Max Sasson scored 1st period goals sending the Riders to the 1st intermission with a 2-0 lead.  Team USA got one back in the 2nd period.  In the 3rd period, Will Zmolek took a shot from the blue line just under six minutes into the final period that RoughRiders captain Liam Walsh tipped in for a 3-1 lead.  Team USA scored twice in the final 1:17 with the extra attacker, setting up the stage for overtime and the shootout.

Roy was the only shooter for either team to score in the shootout. 

The RoughRiders are in Muskegon tomorrow night for a 6:15 pm CST matchup with the league leading Lumberjacks.
