Matt Donovan Signs Two Year Deal with Nashville

Cedar Rapids, IA – Former Cedar Rapids RoughRiders defenseman Matt Donovan has signed a two year, two way contract with the Nashville Predators. Donovan had been with the AHL’s Milwaukee Admirals and was leading the team in scoring with 12 points in 13 games this season, second among all AHL defenseman in goals and fourth in points.

Donovan played the last two seasons with Frolunda of the Swedish Hockey League, totaling 42 points in 102 games.
The Edmond, OK native was with the RoughRiders during the 2007-2008 and 2008-2009 seasons, skating in 116 games and scoring 31 goals and 50 assists during that time. His 19 goals and 51 total points was a USHL league best for defenseman during the 2008-2009 year.

He played for the University of Denver for the 2009-2010 year before turning pro in the New York Islanders organization, who drafted him in the 4th round in the 2008 NHL Draft. He made his NHL debut in the 2011-2012 season.
