The NHL is expanding to add a 32nd franchise with the Seattle Kraken. The Kraken will have an opportunity to build their team from scratch through the expansion draft.
The Kraken selected defenseman Gavin Bayreuther from the Columbus Blue Jackets during the draft. Gavin played for the RoughRiders in 2012-13.
Bayreuther, 27, is a native of Concord, New Hampshire. Before joining the RoughRiders in 2012, he served as Captain for Holderness High School. Gavin tallied 12 points in 19 games for the Riders.
After his time in junior hockey, Gavin attended St. Lawrence University. He served as an alternate captain during his senior year in 2016-17. Gavin signed with the Dallas Stars after college and has played in 28 career NHL games between the Stars and Blue Jackets.
Best of luck in Seattle, Gavin!
