The Cedar Rapids RoughRiders beat the Muskegon Lumberjacks in overtime last night by a score of 4-3. Nikolai Mayarov scored the game-winning goal 2:27 into the overtime period.

By 8:33 into the first, the RoughRiders had scored three goals to secure a comfortable lead over the Lumberjacks. Ben Meehan scored first on the powerplay, assisted by Grant Silianoff and Jackson Jutting. Michael Posma scored next, with assists from captain Jordan Tonelli and Mayarov. Donte Lawson added the third goal, assisted by Yegor Klavdiev and Max Sasson.

The Lumberjacks made it a close game; they subbed goaltenders and scored three goals unanswered in regulation. The tying goal came with just 1:32 left in the third period. Overtime was short and sweet, as Mayarov’s goal, assisted by Sasson and Jack Millar, ended the game with a RoughRiders victory. Goaltender Derek Mullahy stopped 28 of 31 Lumberjack shots on the night.
