Cedar Rapids RoughRiders shut out Lincoln Stars at The Stable

Cedar Rapids, IA — The Cedar Rapids RoughRiders blanked the Lincoln Stars 3-0 last night, led by reigning USHL Goalie of the Week Derek Mullahy. Mullahy stopped all 23 of Lincoln’s shots on goal in the win.

Forward Max Sasson scored the evening’s first goal 7:29 into the first period, assisted by defenseman Ben Meehan. Nikolai Mayarov added the second RoughRiders goal unassisted at 11:48 in the third period. Nate Hanley’s empty net goal, assisted by TJ Schweighardt, sealed the RoughRiders win with 47 seconds remaining in the game.

The RoughRiders have won the last three straight home games and have a season record of 9-6. They sit third in the tight USHL Eastern Conference standings, just one point behind the second place Dubuque Fighting Saints and three behind the leading Chicago Steel. 

The RoughRiders return to The Stable tonight, November 16 to face off against the Tri-City Storm in the annual Game of Giving. Proceeds from the evening will help local pet shelters and rescues. Fans are encouraged to bring pet wishlist items (e.g., pet toys, collars, leashes, food, etc.) to donate.
