Dupaco Backs Iowa Hockey Rivalry

Contention for Dupaco Cowbell Cup Begins in October

Cedar Rapids, IA –During the last nine seasons, the Cedar Rapids RoughRiders, Waterloo Black Hawks and Dubuque Fighting Saints have combined to win five United States Hockey League Anderson Cups, symbolizing excellence during the league’s regular season.

As a result, some of the best hockey in the USHL has been played in eastern Iowa each winter, and once again in the 2019-2020 season, the Dupaco Community Credit Union Cowbell Cup will be up for grabs between these fierce rivals.  Dupaco Community Credit Union has been the presenting sponsor of the Cowbell Cup since the 2015-2016 season.

“Supporting community events and bringing value to our members are both important Dupaco initiatives,” said Joe Hearn, President and CEO of Dupaco Community Credit Union.  “As the presenting sponsor of the Dupaco Cowbell Cup series, we’re supporting three of the communities in which we have a strong presence of Dupaco Credit Union members.  This partnership allows us to help provide excellent family-friendly events to our members and the community at large.”

Each team will play eight home games contributing to the standings (four versus each rival).  Points for the Dupaco Cowbell Cup will be awarded based head-to-head results from these matchups (a complete schedule of Dupaco Cowbell Cup games appears below): two for a win and one for an overtime or shootout loss.

This season the series is even better than ever before as all teams have a balanced schedule so all games in the series will count in the standings.  In past years, an odd number of games restricted certain games from counting.

Dupaco Community Credit Union is a full-service, member-owned financial cooperative.  With offices located in Waterloo/Cedar Falls, Dubuque, and Cedar Rapids, Dupaco helps to improve the financial lives of its more than 100,000 member-owners while making a positive difference in the communities it serves.

The RoughRiders won the Dupaco Cowbell Cup in 2015-2016 when they also won the Anderson Cup as well.  The RoughRiders are entering their 21st season in Cedar Rapids.  The RoughRiders home opener is against the USA Hockey National Team Development Program U17’s on Friday, October 4th at 7:05 pm.  For information on tickets to the RoughRiders home opener, Dupaco Cowbell Cup games or any other RoughRiders games, please call the Front Office at 319-247-0340 or go online at www.roughridershockey.com
