RoughRiders add Assistant Coach

Cedar Rapids, Iowa - The Cedar Rapids RoughRiders are excited to announce the hiring of Assistant Coach Vinny Bohn. Vinny comes to the RoughRiders with a diverse background as a 4-year letterman and captain as a defenseman at Worcester State (NCAA Division 3) in Worcester, Massachusetts. He started his coaching career with the Atlanta Capitals/Topeka Roadrunners immediately following graduation from Worcester State in 2015.  In 2016 Vinny moved on to Marian University (NCAA Division 3) as an assistant coach/recruiting coordinator, following the 2016-17 season Vinny moved on to be an assistant coach of the El Paso Rhinos of the Western States Hockey League. While in El Paso, Vinny was instrumental in recruiting and coaching the Rhinos team that won back to back Thorne Cup Championships in 2018 and 2019, also going a combined 86-9 during the 2017-18 and 2018-19 regular seasons.    

RoughRiders head coach, Mark Carlson stated, “We are very excited to add Vinny to our coaching staff. He has been relentless on the recruiting trail and has displayed a real passion for the game of hockey during his coaching career.  The RoughRiders welcome Vinny to the RoughRiders family and to the city of Cedar Rapids. “   

The RoughRiders will kick off their home-opening weekend on October 4th & 5th vs.Team USA.  Both games will begin at 7:05 pm. Season tickets are now on sale and can be purchased by contacting our season ticket Riders Rep at tcarlson@roughridershockey.com or 319.730.2853  The RoughRiders are honored to have won the Clark Cup Championship, three Anderson Cup Championships, drafting 34 RoughRiders to the National Hockey League (NHL) producing 24 NHL players. The RoughRiders have over 310 players who have advanced to the NCAA Division I college hockey.
