Jones, RoughRiders Bounce Des Moines 4-1

Doug Jones scored two goals and added one assist as the host RoughRiders defeated the Des Moines Buccaneers 4-1 Tuesday night. After Chris Knowlton’s power play goal gave the Buccaneers a 1-0 lead just 2:24 into the first period the Riders bounced back with three goals in a span of four minutes and twenty seconds to take command of the game. Cedar Rapids was on the power play when Jones jammed in a rebound to even the score at one at 8:29. At the 11:41 mark the Riders took the lead when Dean Chelios buried a Jones centering pass. Casey Wellman stretched the gap to 3-1 just 68 seconds later by pouncing on the rebound after Des Moines goaltender Keith Kincaid (32 saves) kicked out a David Boehm bid. After a scoreless second period, Jones struck again on the power play at 3:51 of the third period to cap off the win. He one-timed Ben Lynch’s centering feed past Kincaid to make it 4-1.
