<p>Shane Connelly made 28 saves as the Chicago Steel defeated the host RoughRiders 3-1 Saturday night.</p> <p>The Riders generated a number of quality scoring chances, but Connelly kept Cedar Rapids off the scoreboard until the third period, enabling his teammates to build a 3-0 lead.</p> <p>Matt Clackson tipped a loose puck home from the crease to give the Steel a 1-0 lead with just 46.1 seconds left in the first period.</p> <p>T.J. Fox&#8217;s goal at 5:33 of the second period doubled the Chicago lead. Kevin Swallow fed the puck down the slot to Kevin Walsh who set up Fox on the doorstep and Fox beat Rider goaltender Alex Stalock (19 saves) from close range.</p> <p>Chicago extended the lead to 3-0 when Eric Slais swooped into the slot and fired the puck home at 2:08 of the third period.</p> <p>The Riders finally found the net just over a minute later when Ted Purcell scored on a breakaway, but Connelly shut the door on the Riders the rest of the way.</p> <p><a href="http://www.pointstreak.com/prostats/boxscore.html?gameid=134709" target="_blank">Box Score</a></p>
