Game Summary: December 31, 2004- RoughRiders 4 Des Moines 3

Alex Stalock made 42 saves and Matt Vokes’ third period power play goal proved to be the game winner as the RoughRiders came from behind to defeat the host Des Moines Buccaneers 4-3 Friday night.

The Riders battled back from a 3-1 second period deficit to extend their team record unbeaten streak to 17 straight games (15-0-2). The victory was also the Riders’ eighth in a row on the road, another club record.

The Riders took their first lead of the game when Vokes pounced on a loose puck in the left wing circle and fired it home to snap a 3-3 tie at 6:32 of the third.

Erik Felde sparked the Rider recovery in the second period when he scored his second goal of the game to cut the Des Moines lead to 3-2. Felde backhanded the puck home from the goalmouth off a Brandon Svendsen feed at the 7:14 mark.

The Riders tied the game with just 21 seconds left in the second on a Justin Abdelkader power play goal. Abdelkader tipped Shane Lovdahl’s drive from the left point past Des Moines goaltender A.J. Bucchino.

Stalock’s strong play kept the Bucs from further increasing their lead. The Rider netminder made 19 saves in the second period alone and 17 more in the third.
