The Cedar Rapids RoughRiders will hold their 2008 tryout camp this weekend at the Cedar Rapids Ice Arena. Approximately 80 players will take part in the camp, which begins Friday morning at 8:00AM.

Most prominent among the camp participants are 11 returnees from last season’s Cedar Rapids team: forwards Dean Chelios, Kyle Flanagan, Ben Lynch, Vince Mihalek, Nick Oddo, Mike Seidel, Zak Stone and Garrett Vermeersch and defensemen Matt Donovan, Doug Leaverton and Paul Phillips.

This weekend will also present RoughRider fans with their first chance to catch a glimpse of Darren Rowe, who earlier this month was selected by the Riders in the first round of the United States Hockey League draft.

Players will be divided into four teams that will play three games each. Games will be played Friday morning and Friday evening and again Saturday morning before teams are reset for games Saturday evening. The top performers in camp will return to the ice for the final game of the weekend Sunday morning at 10:00.

All tryout camp sessions are free and open to the public.
