The Cedar Rapids RoughRiders have again teamed with a host of local businesses for Score for the Community Night, an effort that will enable numerous community and non-profit groups to attend the RoughRiders’ game against the Indiana Ice tomorrow night at 7:05 free of charge.

For this, the RoughRiders’ second Score for the Community Night of the season, participating Rider corporate partners and other local businesses purchased a total of nearly 1,000 tickets at a discounted rate that were then donated to a wide array of Cedar Rapids charitable organizations. Among the groups benefiting are Big Brothers Big Sisters of East Central Iowa, the ARC of East Central Iowa, the Boys & Girls Club of Cedar Rapids, Waypoint and many others.

A total of approximately 3,000 tickets have been donated to local organizations for the two Score for the Community Nights. Donors include Cedar River Paper, Overhead Door Company, Collins Community Credit Union, Farmers State Bank, Slumberland Furniture, Hills Bank and Trust Company, Van Meter Industrial, Blair Ridge Dental, Pindar Set Incorporated, General Mills, Genencor, Aegon, CN- North America’s Railroad, the Linn County Sheriff’s Charitable Association and the Cedar Rapids Hockey Association.

“The businesses who have participated in Score for the Community Night have again shown tremendous generosity” said RoughRiders Vice President Jim Calpin. “Their efforts have insured that both Score for the Community games have been complete successes.”

The RoughRiders (33-21-4, 70 points) are in third place in the United States Hockey League’s East Division. The Riders close out the regular season with a pair of games this weekend. After hosting the Ice tomorrow night, the Riders will travel to Waterloo Saturday evening to take on the arch rival Black Hawks.

Tickets for tomorrow night’s game are now on sale. Tickets are available for purchase in person at the Cedar Rapids Ice Arena ticket office, over the phone at (319) 261-4625 or on line at www.roughridershockey.com. The ticket office is open from noon to 5:00PM on weekdays and from noon through the end of the second period on game days. Ticket prices range from $7 to $17 in advance and from $8 to $18 on game day.
