Lancers Trip Up RoughRiders 3-1

Travis Novak scored two goals as the host Omaha Lancers overcame a 37-save effort from RoughRider goaltender Kent Patterson on the way to a 3-1 win over the Riders Friday night. The Lancers scored three unanswered goals after the Riders took a 1-0 second period lead. Cedar Rapids was on the power play when Doug Jones buried a rebound at 7:01 of the second. Omaha would even the score at one with just 15 seconds left in the second. It was the Lancers who were up a man when Travis Novak’s drive from the high slot beat a screened Patterson. Aaron Lewadniuk scored what proved to be the game winner just 68 seconds into the third period with a wrist shot from the slot. With just 6 seconds left in the game Novak capped off the Lancer win with an empty net goal.
