Brian O’Neill scored with just 25.8 seconds left in regulation to give the Chicago Steel a dramatic 2-1 win over the host RoughRiders Saturday night.
O’Neill swept the puck home from the slot to cap off a two-goal third period Chicago rally.
It was Andrew Miller who evened the score at one by firing a low shot through traffic past Rider goaltender Kent Patterson (25 saves) at 13:36 of the third.
The game was scoreless until the Riders’ Doug Jones finally broke the deadlock at 16:39 of the second period. Cedar Rapids was on the power play when Jones drove the puck in between the pads of Chicago netminder Rob Madore (27 saves) from the right wing circle.
