RoughRiders’ Eichenlaub Named Let’s Play Hockey/USHL Defensive Player of the Week
<p>December 20, 2004- Cedar Rapids RoughRiders defenseman Raymond Eichenlaub has been named the Let’s Play Hockey/United States Hockey League Defensive Player of the Week.</p>
<p>Eichenlaub, 18, earned the honor after scoring one goal and two assists as the RoughRiders won all three of their games last week to run their unbeaten in regulation streak to 15 straight games. </p>
<p>“Ray has been consistent for us all season long,” said RoughRiders coach and general manager Mark Carlson. “He’s also been a very big part of our recent success.”</p>
<p>Eichenlaub scored the first goal in what turned out to be a 4-3 win last Tuesday at Sioux City. Last Friday at the Cedar Rapids Ice Arena, Eichenlaub picked up one assist as the RoughRiders tied a team record for goals in a single game, routing the Des Moines Buccaneers 9-1. The Willmette, Illinois, native added one more assist last Saturday as the RoughRiders scored four third period goals and posted a 6-5 come from behind win over the Sioux City Musketeers in Cedar Rapids.</p>
<p>Eichenlaub (1-9-10) leads the RoughRiders with a plus/minus rating of +16, which also places him in a tie for third best in the league. This is Eichenlaub’s second year with the Riders.</p>
<p>Eichenlaub and the RoughRiders (20-3-3, 43 points) have this week off for the USHL’s holiday break. They return to action next Thursday night to host the Chicago Steel before traveling to Urbandale on Friday to take on the Des Moines Buccaneers. </p>
<p>Tickets for next Thursday’s game and all remaining RoughRiders home dates are on sale at the Cedar Rapids Ice Arena ticket office. Tickets can be purchased over the phone at (319) 261-4625 or in person at the ice arena. The ticket office is open from noon to 5:00PM on weekdays and from noon through the end of the second period on game days. Ticket prices range from $8.00 to $17.00 including a 50-cent facility fee.</p> |
