RoughRiders Roll Past Tri-City

Robin Bergman scored two goals and Brady Hjelle made 29 saves as the Cedar Rapids RoughRiders defeated the host Tri-City Storm 5-1 Saturday night.

The RoughRiders charged out of the gate with three first period goals. The Riders grabbed the first goal of the night on the power play when Bryce Aneloski buried a goalmouth feed from Mike Seidel at 3:10.

At 13:46 Ian Slater made it 2-0 by sweeping the puck between the pads of Tri-City starting goaltender Nick Hopper.

Bergman buried a rebound at 17:19 of the first period to stretch the lead to 3-0.

David Boehm widened the gap to four in the second period with a superb individual effort. Boehm cut into the slot and snapped wrist shot past Aaron Rock- who replaced Hopper in the Tri-City net at the start of the second- at the 6:35 mark.

After Troy Power’s power play goal got Tri-City on the scoreboard at 8:05 of the third period, Bergman ensured the Riders would finish the night on a high note by scoring for the second time at the 12:44 mark.
