Four different Cedar Rapids RoughRiders scored and Kent Patterson made 28 saves as the RoughRiders defeated the host Tri-City Storm 4-1 Friday night.
The RoughRiders grabbed a 2-0 lead thanks to a pair of first period special team goals. Cedar Rapids was shorthanded when Nick Oddo blasted Doug Jones’s centering pass into an empty net at 6:54 of the first. The Riders were up 4-on-3 at 12:20 when Matt Tomassoni one timed the puck home to double the lead.
Troy Power got the Storm on the scoreboard for the first time at 18:40 of the second period. Power’s shot from the left wing circle broke in off of Patterson.
The Riders put the Storm away with third period goals from Casey Wellman and David Boehm. Wellman’s wraparound made it 3-1 at 4:19; Boehm finished off a 2-on-1 rush to wrap up the win at 11:44.
