Former Cedar Rapids RoughRiders forward Jacob Cepis, now a freshman at Bowling Green, has been named Central Collegiate Hockey Association Rookie of the Week.
Cepis, 20, scored two goals- including the game winner- and added an assist in a 5-2 victory over Ohio State in Columbus last Friday night. On the season, the Parma, Ohio, native ranks second on the team in goals (12) and points (23).
Bowling Green (13-13-0 overall, 10-10-0 conference) is currently in sixth place in the twelve-team CCHA.
Last season Cepis earned First Team All-USHL honors after leading the league in goals (34) and finishing third in points (72). In two years with the RoughRiders he scored 46 goals and totaled 101 points in 116 games.
The RoughRiders (23-13-1, 47 points) are currently in second place in the USHL’s East Division. The Riders return to action this weekend with a pair of games against the Tri-City Storm in Kearney, Nebraska. The Riders and Storm will clash at 7:05 Friday night and Saturday night. The Riders next take to the ice at home on Tuesday, February 12 at 7:05 when they battle the Sioux City Musketeers.
Tickets for all remaining RoughRiders regular season home games- including the February 12 game- are now on sale. Tickets are available for purchase in person at the Cedar Rapids Ice Arena ticket office, over the phone at (319) 261-4625 or on line at www.roughridershockey.com. The ticket office is open from noon to 5:00PM on weekdays and from noon through the end of the second period on game days. Ticket prices range from $7 to $17 in advance and from $8 to $18 on game days.
