Pasquale Terrazzano made 47 saves and Charles Brockett and Danny Hobbs both provided two goals and one assist as the host Ohio Junior Blue Jackets jumped out to a 5-0 lead on the way to a 6-3 victory over the RoughRiders Saturday afternoon.
Brockett led the charge as the Blue Jackets surged to a 3-0 first period lead. The Jackets were on the power play when Brockett made it 1-0 at 11:14. Brockett struck again at 15:04, finishing off an odd-man rush to double the lead. Derek Roehl walked into the Cedar Rapids goalmouth to make it 3-0 with just 44 seconds left in the period.
The Blue Jackets stretched the lead to 5-0 with a pair of second period power play goals. At 8:35 Hobbs tipped in the fourth Ohio goal; at the 12:39 mark Clark McClean buried number five from close range.
The Riders got on the scoreboard when David Boehm converted a Zak Stone centering pass at 15:20 of the second. Just over three minutes later, the Riders’ Mike Seidel fired the puck under Ohio goaltender Pasquale Terrazano to make it 5-2.
At 14:46 of the third period Hobbs scored his second power play goal of the game and the Blue Jackets’ fourth to make it 6-2. A power play goal from Cedar Rapids’ Nick Oddo at 18:51 of the third period did nothing to affect the outcome.
