Four different RoughRiders scored goals and Kent Patterson made 28 saves as the Riders defeated the host Sioux City Musketeers 4-1 Friday night.

The Riders jumped on the Musketeers early, scoring twice in the first 3:11 of the game. Just 24 seconds after the opening face off, Tyler Thompson buried the puck from the doorstep to give Cedar Rapids a 1-0 lead. The Riders soon after doubled the advantage when Dean Chelios’s shot trickled between the pads of Sioux City goaltender Josh Robinson.

The Musketeers battled back to get on the scoreboard for the first time while on the power play when Seth Helgeson jammed in a rebound at 13:07 of the first period.

The Riders used a pair of second period goals to stretch the gap to 4-1. Doug Jones’ backhander made it 3-1 at 4:53 of the second. At 9:25 Doug Leaverton scored his first career United States Hockey League goal from the right wing circle.
