Zak Stone, Nick Oddo and Doug Jones provided the goals and Brady Hjelle made 18 saves as the RoughRiders defeated the host Green Bay Gamblers 3-1 Friday night.
The Riders took a 1-0 lead when Stone converted an Ian Slater centering pass from point blank range at 5:46 of the first period.
The Riders scored twice in a span of just under three minutes late in the second period to take complete control of the game. Nick Oddo extended the lead to 2-0 by burying a rebound at 15:20 of the second. The Riders were on the power play when Doug Jones extended the lead to three with a wrist shot from the left wing circle with just 1:46 left in the period.
After pulling goaltender Aaron Crandall (24 saves) and going on the power play the Gamblers finally got on the scoreboard while up 6-on-4 thanks to Christian Morissette at 16:36 of the third period.
Hjelle and the Riders would keep the Gamblers from getting any closer in the dying moments.
