RoughRiders' Aneloski Named USHL Defensive Player of the Week

Cedar Rapids RoughRiders Defenseman Bryce Aneloski has been named CCM United States Hockey League Defensive Player of the Week.

Aneloski, 17, collected three assists and posted a plus/minus rating of +4 as the Riders put together back-to-back home wins last weekend. The Pekin, Illinois, native notched a pair of assists in last Friday’s 5-2 win over Sioux Falls. Aneloski added another assist one night later in a 6-2 defeat of Waterloo.

“Bryce has adapted well to the league and has been able to handle a lot responsibility fairly quickly,” said RoughRiders Coach and General Manager Mark Carlson. “It’s going to be exciting to watch him continue to grow as a player.”

On the season, Aneloski has scored two goals and collected eight assists for ten points. He was selected by the RoughRiders in eighth round of May’s USHL Entry Draft with the eighty-first overall pick after playing midget hockey for Team Illinois last season.

The RoughRiders (14-5-1, 29 points) are currently in second place in the USHL’s East Division. The Riders return to action Friday night at 7:05 when they host the Green Bay Gamblers.
