The Cedar Rapids RoughRiders have activated goaltender Kent Patterson from injured reserve and have acquired forward Zak Stone from the New York Junior Bobcats for the Atlantic Junior Hockey League, while sending goaltender Erick Cinotti back to the AJHL’s New Jersey Rockets, the RoughRiders announced today.
Patterson, 18, returns to the Riders’ active roster after going on injured reserve in October following sports hernia surgery. The Plymouth, Minnesota, native has missed the Riders’ first 18 games of the season. Last year Patterson was named to the United States Hockey League All-Rookie Team after finishing second in the league in save percentage (.913) while going 20-5-3 in 29 games. He finished seventh in the USHL in goals against average (2.91) and tied for seventh in wins while also posting a pair of shutouts.
Cinotti was acquired from the Rockets earlier this season when Patterson was placed on injured reserve. The 17-year old product of Mahwah, New Jersey, did not see any game action while with the Riders.
Stone, 18, scored 11 goals and totaled 29 points in 25 games with the Bobcats this season. The Roslyn Estates, New York, native ranks third in the AJHL in assists (18) and is tied for ninth in points.
The RoughRiders (12-5-1, 25 points) are currently in second place in the USHL’s East Division. The Riders return to action with a pair of home games this weekend. The Riders will host the Sioux Falls Stampede Friday night and the Waterloo Black Hawks Saturday evening. Both games face off at 7:05PM.
