The Cedar Rapids RoughRiders have teamed up with the Cedar Rapids Hockey Association and the Iowa City Youth Hockey Association to raise better than $8,000 for the two groups, the RoughRiders announced today.
The RoughRiders donated a portion of the proceeds from tickets sales to the team’s September 19 preseason game against the Waterloo Black Hawks to both the CRHA and the ICYHA. The Cedar Rapids and Iowa City youth hockey programs teamed with the Riders to raise further funds by selling tickets to the Riders’ November 9 and 10 regular season home games.
“We are thrilled to have had this opportunity to work with both the Cedar Rapids Hockey Association and the Iowa City Youth Hockey Association,” said RoughRiders Vice President Jim Calpin. “We look forward to continuing our cooperation with both groups to benefit youth hockey in eastern Iowa.”
The RoughRiders (12-5-1, 25 points) are currently in second place in the USHL’s East Division. The Riders return to action with a pair of home games this weekend. The Riders will host the Sioux Falls Stampede Friday night and Waterloo Saturday evening. Both games face off at 7:05PM.
Tickets for all remaining RoughRiders regular season home games- including this weekend’s- are now on sale. Tickets are available for purchase in person at the Cedar Rapids Ice Arena ticket office, over the phone at (319) 261-4625 or on line at www.roughridershockey.com. The ticket office is open from noon to 5:00PM on weekdays and from noon through the end of the second period on game days.
