Three goals on the power play and 26 saves from Mike Johnson propelled the host RoughRiders to a 3-1 victory over the Ohio Junior Blue Jackets Saturday night.
The Riders scored three unanswered goals after falling behind early on. After Dan Barczuck buried a rebound to open the scoring 5:34 into the game, but the Ohio lead would not last.
The Riders evened the score when Matt Tomassoni converted Kyle Flanagan’s centering pass at 8:19; they broke the deadlock when Doug Jones one-timed a Mike Seidel centering feed home at 13:54.
Just 35 seconds into the second period the Riders extended the lead to 3-1 when Kyle Flanagan scored Cedar Rapids third man advantage goal of the night from point blank range.
