Omaha Slips Past RoughRiders 4-2

Aaron Lewadniuk broke a 2-2 tie with 1:15 left in the third period and the Omaha Lancers went on to defeat the host RoughRiders 4-2 Friday night.

Lewadniuk buried a rebound to give the Lancers their third lead of the night. Chris Connolly’s empty net goal with just 16 seconds left put the game away.

The Riders had twice battled from behind to tie the game earlier in the evening.

The Lancers first jumped in front when Connolly flipped a rebound home at 8:13 of the first period.

Mike Seidel tied the score at one apiece, tumbling into the goalmouth and tucking the puck past Omaha goaltender Drew Palmisano at 16:31 of the first.

Matt Thurber jammed the puck in from the doorstep to give the Lancers a 2-1 lead at 3:11 of the second period.

The Riders tied the game for a second time in spectacular fashion with just under a minute and a half left in the second period. Casey Wellman spun 360 degrees to somehow shake off a check in the left wing circle before walking in alone and snapping a wrist shot into the back of the net.
