Game Summary: December 10, 2004- Omaha 3 RoughRiders 2 (OT)

Corey Carlson scored 37 seconds into overtime to give the Omaha Lancers a 3-2 victory over the host RoughRiders Friday night.

The Riders did earn one point for the sudden death loss. While the Riders’ six game winning streak was snapped, they remain unbeaten in regulation (9-0-2) over their last eleven games, a new team record.

Carlson delivered the game winner when he pounced on a loose puck in the slot and wristed it home under the crossbar.

Omaha twice came from behind to tie the game in regulation, the second time with just 2:09 left in the third period. Chris Hepp knotted the game at two apiece when his shot from the right wing board bounced off a leg in front of the Rider net and caromed over the goal line.

Phil Axtell had staked the Riders to a 2-1 lead at 3:53 of the third. Omaha goaltender Jeff Lerg stopped Billy Loupee’s drive from the top of the right wing circle, but Axtell buried the rebound to give the Riders their second lead of the night.

The Riders held a 1-0 advantage in the second period until former Rider Brandon Naurato scored on a 2-on-1 break, snapping the puck past Rider goaltender Alex Stalock (26 saves) from the left wing circle at 6:46 of the second.

The Riders were outshot 12-2 in the second period, but Stalock made a number of fine saves to keep the Lancers from taking the lead.

The Riders first jumped on top when Erik Felde crashed the net to give Cedar Rapids a 1-0 lead at 17:37 of the first period.
