RoughRiders, St. Luke’s Team Up for Pink Game to Benefit St. Luke’s Spirit Fund

The Cedar Rapids RoughRiders and St. Luke’s Hospital have teamed up to turn this Saturday’s match-up between the RoughRiders and Des Moines Buccaneers into a special “Pink Game” to benefit the St. Luke’s Spirit Fund.

“We’re very happy to have the chance to work together with St. Luke’s on behalf of a fine cause like the St. Luke’s Spirit Fund,” said RoughRiders Vice President Jim Calpin. “Saturday night should be a great night for everyone who attends the ‘Pink Game’ and for the St. Luke’s Spirit Fund.”

The RoughRiders’ goaltenders and the game officials will wear special edition pink jerseys during Saturday night’s game, which will face off at 7:05. The game worn goalie jerseys- as well as several autographed pink RoughRider replica jerseys- will be auctioned off following the game with proceeds going to the Spirit Fund.

In addition, $1 from the price of every ticket sold to Saturday’s game will go directly to the Spirit Fund. Pink will be the color of the night on the ice- literally- as pink ribbons will be painted into the ice for the game. The evening will be capped off by a special pink fireworks show outside the Cedar Rapids Ice Arena after the game.

A leader in community healthcare, St. Luke’s is a fully accredited 560-bed hospital. Founded in 1884 as Cedar Rapids’ first hospital, St. Luke’s today offers a diverse range of patient care services with particular strengths in cardiac care, rehabilitation, obstetrics and trauma care.

The Spirit Fund provides financial assistance to women diagnosed with breast cancer by helping to defray the cost of non-medical services in support of patients’ ongoing care.

Tickets for all remaining RoughRider regular season home games- including Saturday’s- are now on sale. Tickets are available for purchase in person at the Cedar Rapids Ice Arena ticket office, over the phone at (319) 261-4625 or on line at www.roughridershockey.com. The ticket office is open from noon to 5:00PM on weekdays and from noon through the end of the second period on game days. Ticket prices range from $7 to $17 in advance and from $8 to $18 on game days.

The RoughRiders (3-0-0, 6 points) are currently in first place in the United States Hockey League’s East Division. The Riders will begin their weekend with a game against the Indiana Ice in Indianapolis Friday night before returning home for Saturday evening’s meeting with the Buccaneers.
