Brady Hjelle made 34 saves to shutout the host Green Bay Gamblers and the RoughRiders scored three power play goals on the way to a 4-0 win Friday night.
The Riders’ first three goals all came on the man advantage. Ben Lynch’s blast from the right wing circle gave the RoughRiders a 1-0 lead at 13:01 of the first period.
Kyle Flanagan buried a Matt Tomassoni centering feed to double the lead at 9:40 of the second period.
The Riders struck twice in the third period to put the game away. Cedar Rapids was up two men when Tyler Thompson’s wraparound goal extended the lead to 3-0 at 2:49 of the third.
Ian Slater capped off the win at 12:23 with the Riders’ lone even strength goal.
