The Cedar Rapids RoughRiders return to preseason action Thursday night at the USHL’s Fall Classic in Sioux City. The Riders open the twelve-team tournament against the host Sioux City Musketeers at the Tyson Events Center Thursday evening at 7:05PM.
Friday afternoon at 3:00 the Riders will meet the Lincoln Stars at the IBP Ice Center before returning to the Tyson Events Center to wrap up their exhibition slate against the Sioux Falls Stampede Saturday afternoon at 4:00.
The Fall Classic replaces Des Moines’ Buc Bowl as the USHL’s annual preseason show piece.
The RoughRiders are teaming up with B2 Networks to offer pay-per-view video webcasts of all three of this weekend’s games. Fans can click on the “Watch RoughRiders’ Games Live” icon at www.roughridershockey.com up to 15 minutes before opening faceoff to catch all the action. Webcasts are available to fans with a high speed DSL or cable modem internet connection for $6 per game.
The RoughRiders tuned up for the Fall Classic by winning two of their first three preseason tilts. The Riders head into the weekend on an up note after downing the Waterloo Black Hawks 2-1 last night in Waterloo. Last night’s victory represents a measure of revenge for the Riders, who fell 4-3 to the Black Hawks last Wednesday at the Cedar Rapids Ice Arena. The Riders opened the preseason by edging the Des Moines Buccaneers 4-3 in a shootout last Tuesday at the Coral Ridge Ice Arena in Coralville.
The Riders start their ninth regular season on Friday, October 5, against the Chicago Steel in Bensenville, Illinois. One night later, the Riders will return to Cedar Rapids for their home opener against the Indiana Ice at 7:05. 2007-08 season tickets are currently available through the RoughRiders’ business office (319-247-0340). Season ticket holders receive a host of special benefits available to exclusively to them.
Regular season single game tickets are now on sale at the Cedar Rapids Ice Arena ticket office. The ticket office is open from noon to 5:00PM Monday through Friday and from noon through the end of the second period on game days. Tickets can be purchased in person at the box office or over the phone at (319) 261-4625. Tickets are also available on line at www.roughridershockey.com. Ticket prices range from $7 to $17 in advance and from $8 to $18 on game days.
