The special edition Rockwell Collins Cedar Rapids RoughRiders warm-up jerseys worn by the RoughRiders during the 2006-07 season will go up for bid in an online auction to benefit the United Way beginning tonight night at 8:00PM, the RoughRiders announced today.
The RoughRiders have teamed up with ScoreBid to hold the online auction, which will run for ten days. The jersey auction can be accessed through the ScoreBid link on the Riders’ web site, www.roughridershockey.com. Minimum bid for warm-up jerseys is $100. Bids can be made using a major credit card. Winning bids are tax deductible.
United Way is a national network of more than 1,300 locally governed organizations that work to create lasting positive changes in communities and people’s lives. Building on more than a century of service as the nation’s preeminent community-based fundraiser, United Way engages the community to identify the underlying causes of the most significant local issues, develops strategies and pulls together financial and human resources to address them, and measures the results.
The warm-up jerseys are not the only RoughRider sweaters currently up for bid. Selected game worn green Rider jerseys are also being auctioned off via ScoreBid. Pairs of jerseys worn during the 2006-07 season will be added to the auction periodically over the coming weeks. Minimum bid for game worn jerseys is $125.
The RoughRiders just completed their eighth season in Cedar Rapids, having posted the second best regular season record (37-18-5, 79 points) in team history and reached the second round of the United States Hockey League’s Clark Cup playoffs for the third straight year and the fifth time in the last six years.
