RoughRiders Welcome Dale Earnhardt Sr. #3 Car March 12
<p>December 1, 2004- The Cedar Rapids RoughRiders will welcome the Dale Earnhardt Sr. #3 GM Goodwrench Chevy Monte Carlo to the Cedar Rapids Ice Arena on March 12 when the RoughRiders meet the Sioux City Musketeers, the RoughRiders announced today.</p>
<p>All fans who buy tickets to the RoughRiders’ game will have the chance to get up close with the late NASCAR legend Earnhardt’s #3 racecar from 6:00PM through the end of the second period of the RoughRiders’ game. The game faces off at 7:05PM. RoughRider season ticket holders will have exclusive access to the #3 car from 5:15 to 6:00PM.</p>
<p>Earnhardt, who died in a final lap crash at the 2001 Daytona 500, won seven NASCAR championships and a total of 76 races over the course of a 27 year career. His son, Dale Earnhardt Jr., is currently one of NASCAR’s top drivers.</p>
<p>The arrival of the Dale Earnhardt #3 car will be the fourth event in a series of NASCAR promotions at RoughRider games this season. The Dale Earnhardt Jr. #8 Budweiser Born On Date car and the Dale Jarrett #88 UPS car have already been on display at the ice area this fall. The Jeff Gordon #24 DuPont car will roll into the ice arena on Saturday, January 29 when the RoughRiders take on the Sioux Falls Stampede.</p>
<p>The RoughRiders (14-3-2, 30 points) are in first place in the United States Hockey League’s East Division, six points ahead of the Chicago Steel. The Riders, who boast the USHL’s best winning percentage (.789), have won four straight games and are unbeaten in regulation (7-0-1) in their last eight games.</p>
<p>After visiting the Indiana Ice for two games this weekend, the Riders next play on home ice on Friday, October 10, when they meet the Omaha Lancers at 7:05PM. Also on December 10, the RoughRiders and the Cedar Rapids Jaycees will team up to host their second annual Teddy Bear Toss to benefit The Christmas Toy Shop. Fans are encouraged to bring new, unwrapped teddy bears to the game and toss them onto the ice after the RoughRiders score their first goal. The teddy bears will then be collected and donated to The Christmas Toy Shop.</p>
<p>Tickets for RoughRider home games are now on sale at the Cedar Rapids Ice Arena ticket office. Tickets can be purchased over the phone at (319) 261-4625 or in person at the ice arena. The ticket office is open from noon to 5:00PM on weekdays and from noon through the end of the second period on game days. Ticket prices range from $8.00 to $17.00 including a 50-cent facility fee.</p> |
