Cedar Rapids RoughRiders goaltender Richard Bachman has been named Stauber’s Goalcrease/United States Hockey League Goaltender of the Week.

Bachman, 19, went 1-0-1 last week, stopping 84 of the 86 shots he faced and posting a 1.49 goals against average, a .966 save percentage and one shutout. Bachman made 41 saves as the Riders blanked Indiana 5-0 last Wednesday and turned aside 43 shots in a 3-2 overtime loss at Sioux City last Saturday. With the single point they earned for that sudden death defeat, the Riders moved into a tie for first place in the USHL’s East Division with the Waterloo Black Hawks.

“Rich has been very consistent and very solid for us,” said RoughRiders Coach and General Manager Mark Carlson. “Lately he’s been giving us a chance to win just about every time out.”

Bachman, who was acquired by the Riders in a November 20 trade with the Chicago Steel, has gone 8-6-2 in 16 games with Cedar Rapids, posting a 3.23 goals against average and a .907 save percentage.

Bachman will play his college hockey at Colorado College. The Highlands Ranch, Colorado, native was selected by the Dallas Stars in the fourth round of the 2006 National Hockey League Draft with the one hundred twentieth overall choice.

The RoughRiders (27-14-3, 57 points) return to action with a pair of road games this weekend. The Riders will visit the Omaha Lancers Friday night and the arch rival Black Hawks Saturday evening. The Riders are next in action on home ice on March 9 and 10 when they host a pair of games against the Sioux Falls Stampede.
