Bachman, Riders Blank Ice 5-0

Richard Bachman made 41 saves as the host RoughRiders shutout the Indiana Ice 5-0 Wednesday night.

Bachman was busiest in the second period, stopping 18 Indiana shots. At the other end, the Riders scored three times in the second to take control of the game.

The Riders were already up 1-0 when Jacob Cepis charged into the goalmouth to double the lead at 1:39 of the second.

The Riders extended the lead to 3-0 when David Boehm buried a Brett Dickinson centering pass at the 10:31 mark.

Ian Slater’s wraparound goal made it 4-0 with just over two minutes left in the period.

Alex Kangas (17 saves) replaced starter Cody Reichard (15 saves) in the Indiana net at the start of the third period and surrendered the Riders’ fifth goal when Robin Bergman snapped the puck home from the left wing circle eleven minutes into the third.

The Riders first took the lead with just 8.5 seconds left in the first period when Aaron Bogosian converted a Slater feed to finish off a shorthanded 2-on-1 rush. From there, the Riders never looked back on the way to the win.
