RoughRiders’ Bachman Named Stauber’s Goalcrease/USHL Goaltender of the Week

Cedar Rapids RoughRiders goaltender Richard Bachman has been named Stauber’s Goalcrease/United States Hockey League Goaltender of the Week.

Bachman, 19, made 40 saves in the Riders’ 3-0 shutout win over the Waterloo Black Hawks last Saturday night at the Cedar Rapids Ice Arena. With the win the Riders moved into a tie for first place in the USHL’s East Division with the Black Hawks.

“Richard did a very good job Saturday,” said RoughRiders Coach and General Manager Mark Carlson. “He made a number of big saves and was very focused throughout the game.”

Bachman, who was acquired by the Riders in a November 20 trade with the Chicago Steel, has gone 6-5-0 in 11 games with Cedar Rapids, posting a 3.38 goals against average and a .899 save percentage.

Bachman will play his college hockey at Colorado College. The Highlands Ranch, Colorado, native was selected by the Dallas Stars in the fourth round of the 2006 National Hockey League Draft with the one hundred twentieth overall choice.

The RoughRiders (22-12-1, 45 points) return to action with a pair of games this weekend. The Riders will visit the Des Moines Buccaneers Friday night before returning home to take on the Ohio Junior Blue Jackets Saturday evening at 7:05.
