Storm Nips Riders 4-3

Storm Nips Riders 4-3

Calle Ridderwall scored the game winning power play goal with 3:51 left in the third period and the Tri-City Storm defeated the host RoughRiders 4-3 Friday night.

Ridderwall tipped in an Andrew Sackrison shot to snap a 3-3 tie with what was the only goal of the third period.

The Riders and Storm entered the third deadlocked after scoring two apiece in the second period.  The Riders were up 5-on-3 when Jacob Cepis buried a Rob Bordson centering pass to give Cedar Rapids a 2-1 lead 6:46 into the second.

At 9:37 the Storm knotted it up at two apiece when Brett Wysopal’s shot sailed through traffic and past Rider goaltender Richard Bachman.

The Storm took a 3-2 lead when Tommy Mannino fired the puck home from the right wing circle at the 13:07 mark.

The Riders responded just 46 seconds later when Danny Dries skated in alone and tucked the puck behind Tri-City netminder Ian Keserich to even the score.

The first period saw the Riders open the scoring on Aaron Bogosian’s wrister from the slot 6:46 into the game.

Alex Hudson replied for the Storm at 16:25 with a drive from the top of the left wing circle.
