Game Summary: November 25, 2004- RoughRiders 2 Waterloo 1 (so)
<p>Ted Purcell and Jon Grabarek converted penalty shots and Alex Stalock stopped all four Waterloo Black Hawk shooters as the RoughRiders defeated the host Black Hawks 2-1 in a shootout Thursday night.</p>
<p>The win was the Riders’ third in a row and extended Cedar Rapids’ unbeaten streak to seven games (6-0-1). The Black Hawks did earn one point for the shootout loss.</p>
<p>Purcell scored on the Riders’ first penalty shot and Grabarek buried the fourth Cedar Rapids chance, after which Stalock stopped Waterloo’s Garret Regan to clinch the win.</p>
<p>After the Riders’ Matt Vokes tied the game at one with a power play goal at 8:13 of the second period, neither team found the back of the net again until the game went to the shootout. Vokes tipped Phil Axtell’s shot from the slot past Waterloo netminder Drew O’Connell.</p>
<p>The Black Hawks had capped off a first period in which they outshot the Riders 13-7 by taking a 1-0 lead with a power play goal of their own. After Drew Dobson missed the net with a shot from the right point, the puck caromed off the end boards into the goalmouth and Jesse Vesel fired it into the net to put Waterloo on top.</p>
