RoughRiders, Jaycees Team Up for Christmas Toy Shop Teddy Bear Toss December 10
<p>November 23, 2004- The Cedar Rapids RoughRiders and the Cedar Rapids Jaycees will team up to host their second annual Teddy Bear Toss to benefit The Christmas Toy Shop, Friday, December 10 when the RoughRiders take on the Omaha Lancers at 7:05PM at the Cedar Rapids Ice Arena.</p>
<p>Fans are encouraged to bring new, unwrapped teddy bears to the game and toss them onto the ice after the RoughRiders score their first goal. The teddy bears will then be collected from the ice and donated to The Christmas Toy Shop.</p>
<p>“The Christmas Toy Shop Teddy Bear Toss is one of many ways the RoughRider organization participates in community based programs and it is something we are very excited to partner with the Jaycees on,” said RoughRiders Vice-President of Operations Jim Calpin. “The Jaycees have provided valuable assistance with our monthly food drive program and we look forward to working with them on this project.”</p>
<p>The Christmas Toy Shop is a partnership between Toys for Tots and The Salvation Army which provides holiday toys for children in need up to 17 years of age. Last year the two groups served more than 700 families and approximately 3,000 children in the Cedar Rapids area.</p>
<p>The Jaycees and the United States Marine Corps coordinate the Cedar Rapids area Toys for Tots program.<p>
<p>“We are very excited to take the project to a new level this year,” said Cedar Rapids Jaycees project chair Krista Rettkowski. “Last year the Teddy Bear Toss was a great success for Toys for Tots and we are confident that RoughRiders fans will show their support this year for The Christmas Toy Shop.”</p>
<p>Tickets for the December 10 game and the rest of the RoughRiders remaining home games are now on sale at the Cedar Rapids Ice Arena ticket office. Tickets can be purchased over the phone at (319) 261-4625 or in person at the ice arena. The ticket office is open from noon to 5:00PM on weekdays and from noon through the end of the second period on game days. Ticket prices range from $8.00 to $17.00 including a 50-cent facility fee. </p> |
