Game Summary: October 14, 2006- RoughRiders 6 Chicago 2

October 14, 2006- The host RoughRiders scored four unanswered goals on the way to a 6-2 win over the Chicago Steel Saturday night.

With just 30 seconds left in the first period Aaron Bogosian triggered the Rider roll when he snapped a 2-2 tie with a shorthanded goal. Bogosian walked in alone and snapped a wrist shot past Chicago starting goaltender Richard Bachman to give Cedar Rapids a 3-2 lead.

The Riders doubled the lead when Matt Tomassoni whipped the puck in behind Bachman from the right wing boards at the thirteen minute mark of the second period.

Just 59 seconds later the Riders extended the lead to 5-2 thanks to a nifty finish from Jacob Cepis. Bachman foiled Cepis’s initial point blank bid, but Cepis batted the rebound in out of midair for the goal that chased Bachman from the game.

Early in the third period, Cedar Rapids was on the power play when Evan Stephens banged a rebound past relief netminder Rob Madore to put the exclamation point on the Rider effort.

There were also plenty of fireworks early for the Riders. Tip-in goals just 31 seconds apart from Andy Miele and Rob Bordson gave Cedar Rapids a 2-0 lead inside the first minute of the game.

The Steel battled back to tie the game with first period goals of their own from Luka Vidmar at 3:57 and Sean Dolan at 14:46. Chicago would be stymied the rest of the way however, as Pat McGann turned in a strong 31 save effort to earn the victory in goal for the Riders.
