RoughRiders’ Ricci Named Let’s Play Hockey/USHL Offensive Player of the Week
<p>November 16, 2004- Cedar Rapids RoughRiders center Rob Ricci has been named the Let’s Play Hockey/United States Hockey League Offensive Player of the Week.</p>
<p>Ricci, 19, earned the honor after scoring three goals and adding three assists as the RoughRiders won three straight games last week to open up a six point lead atop the USHL’s East Division.</p>
<p>“Rob has worked extremely hard for us all season,” said RoughRiders coach and general manager Mark Carlson. “There were times before this week when points weren’t always coming his way, but he was still doing a tremendous job for us. I’m happy to see that the effort he puts in night-in and night-out is now being recognized.”</p>
<p>Ricci picked up one assist last Wednesday as the RoughRiders edged the Indiana Ice 5-4 in Indianapolis. Last Friday in Urbandale, Ricci exploded for two goals and two assists as the RoughRiders rolled past the Des Moines Buccaneers 7-4. Ricci’s four point night was a team single game season high. The Brampton, Ontario, native capped off a banner week by scoring the first goal in the Riders’ 6-0 romp over Green Bay Saturday night at the Cedar Rapids Ice Arena.</p>
<p>Ricci (4-10-14) leads the RoughRiders in assists and points and ranks sixth in the league in assists. This is Ricci’s second year with the Riders. Last season he finished as the club’s third leading point scorer (17-22-39).</p>
<p> Ricci and the RoughRiders (10-3-1, 21 points) return to action with a pair of home games this weekend. The Riders will host the Lincoln Stars Friday night and take on the Tri-City Storm Saturday evening. Both games will face off at 7:05PM.</p>
<p>Tickets for this weekend’s games and all remaining RoughRiders first half home dates are now on sale at the Cedar Rapids Ice Arena ticket office. Tickets can be purchased over the phone at (319) 261-4625 or in person at the ice arena. The ticket office is open from noon to 5:00PM on weekdays and from noon through the end of the second period on game days. Ticket prices range from $8.00 to $17.00 including a 50-cent facility fee. </p>
<p>This Friday is a Family Pack Night. The Family Pack enables fans to purchase four green zone seats, four hot dogs, four fountain drinks and a game program all for just $44. The Family Pack is available for all of the RoughRiders’ Friday and Sunday home games. Also this Friday night, Christian rock band Ramshackle will perform immediately after the game. In addition, at this Saturday night’s game, one lucky fan will win two vouchers good for round trip airfare anywhere in the continental United States on Delta Airlines. </p> |
