October 11, 2006- The Cedar Rapids RoughRiders will host their third annual Mascot Night this Saturday when the RoughRiders take on the Chicago Steel at 7:05PM at the Cedar Rapids Ice Arena.

There will be fun for the whole family as Ricochet, the Riders’ fun-loving equine mascot, welcomes fellow mascots from all over eastern Iowa for an evening of zany antics.

Among the mascots scheduled to appear Saturday night are McGruff the Crime Dog, Mr. Shucks of the Cedar Rapids Kernels, Scoopie the Culver’s mascot, Aspen Athletic Club’s Moose and a host of others.

The highlight of the evening will be what will no doubt be a hotly contested mascot soccer game on the ice during the first intermission.

Also this Saturday, the RoughRiders and G.E. Capital will partner to auction off Riders memorabilia to benefit the United Way. The auction will begin at the start of the game and will run through the middle of the third period.

This Saturday’s contest is the second game of a weekend home-and-home series between the Riders and Steel. The Riders will visit Bensenville, Illinois, Friday night. The Riders opened the season with a 4-2 loss to the Green Bay Gamblers last Saturday.

This Saturday’s game is the second of five straight Saturday home dates for the RoughRiders. Tickets for all RoughRiders home games- including Saturday’s- can be purchased in person at the Cedar Rapids Ice Arena ticket office, over the phone at (319) 261-4625 or on line at www.roughridershockey.com. The ticket office is open from noon to 5:00PM on weekdays and from noon through the end of the second period on game days, including tomorrow. Ticket prices range from $7 to $17 in advance and from $8 to $18 on game days.
