The Cedar Rapids RoughRiders return to preseason action tomorrow morning at the Buc Bowl tournament in Des Moines. The Riders open the twelve-team tournament against the Omaha Lancers tomorrow at 10:30AM.
“The Buc Bowl is always a very good way to get ready for the regular season,” said RoughRiders Coach and General Manager Mark Carlson. “It’s a tournament we take seriously and we’re looking forward to getting back on the ice.”
The Riders will be back in Des Moines Friday at noon to meet the Tri-City Storm. The Riders will close out the Buc Bowl when they take on the Sioux City Musketeers on Saturday at 4:00PM.
The Riders will play at the 3,000-seat 95 KGGO Arena tomorrow and Saturday. Friday’s clash with Tri-City will take place at the smaller Metro Ice Sports Facility.
The RoughRiders are teaming up with B2 Networks to offer pay-per-view video webcasts of the Riders’ games tomorrow and Saturday. Fans can click on the “Watch RoughRiders’ Games Live” icon at www.roughridershockey.com up to 15 minutes before opening faceoff to catch all the action. Webcasts are available to fans with a high speed DSL or cable modem internet connection for $6 per game.
The RoughRiders tuned up for the Buc Bowl by splitting a pair of preseason games with the Des Moines Buccaneers last weekend. The Riders fell 5-3 on the road last Friday evening before bouncing back with a 6-2 win on home ice last Saturday night.
The two-time defending East Division champion RoughRiders will open the regular season on Saturday, October 7 at home against the Green Bay Gamblers. Single game tickets for the 2006-07 regular season are now on sale at the Cedar Rapids Ice Arena ticket office. The ticket office is open from noon to 5:00PM Monday through Friday and from noon through the end of the second period on game days. Tickets can be purchased in person at the box office or over the phone at (319) 261-4625. Tickets are also available on line at www.roughridershockey.com. Ticket prices range from $7 to $17 in advance and from $8 to $18 on game days.
