RoughRiders, Jaycees Team Up For Monthly Food Drive To Benefit HACAP

<P class=MsoNormal style="MARGIN: 0in 0in 0pt"><SPAN style="FONT-FAMILY: Arial; mso-bidi-font-family: 'Times New Roman'">The Cedar Rapids RoughRiders and the Cedar Rapids Jaycees will team up this season for monthly food drives to benefit the HACAP Food Reservoir, the RoughRiders announced today.<?xml:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office" /><o:p></o:p></SPAN></P>
<P class=MsoNormal style="MARGIN: 0in 0in 0pt"><SPAN style="FONT-FAMILY: Arial; mso-bidi-font-family: 'Times New Roman'"><SPAN style="mso-tab-count: 1"> </SPAN>The Jaycees will collect canned food items at the RoughRiders’ first Saturday home game of each month.<SPAN style="mso-spacerun: yes"> </SPAN>The RoughRiders’ first food drive night of the season is the team’s home opener Saturday, October 16 when the defending United States Hockey League champion Waterloo Black Hawks visit the Cedar Rapids Ice Arena.<o:p></o:p></SPAN></P>

Through serving the <st1:place w:st="on"><st1:City w:st="on">Cedar Rapids</st1:City></st1:place> area in a variety of projects and programs, young people have the opportunity to develop their leadership and business skills.<SPAN style="mso-spacerun: yes"> </SPAN>The Jaycees are the organization of choice for young men and women who want the best opportunities for leadership development, volunteerism and community service.<o:p></o:p></SPAN></P>

<P class=MsoNormal style="MARGIN: 0in 0in 0pt"><SPAN style="FONT-FAMILY: Arial; mso-bidi-font-family: 'Times New Roman'"><SPAN style="mso-tab-count: 1"> </SPAN>HACAP- Hawkeye Area Community Action Program, Inc.- is celebrating its thirty-eighth year of providing services to eliminate the causes of poverty in <st1:City w:st="on">Benton</st1:City>, <st1:State w:st="on">Iowa</st1:State>, Johnson, Jones, Linn and <st1:place w:st="on"><st1:State w:st="on">Washington</st1:State></st1:place> counties.<SPAN style="mso-spacerun: yes"> </SPAN>The mission of HACAP is to promote economic and emotional strength toward a goal of self-sufficiency for disadvantaged people in our communities.<o:p></o:p></SPAN></P>
<P class=MsoNormal style="MARGIN: 0in 0in 0pt"><SPAN style="FONT-FAMILY: Arial; mso-bidi-font-family: 'Times New Roman'"><SPAN style="mso-tab-count: 1"> </SPAN>The HACAP Food Reservoir is a member of <st1:place w:st="on"><st1:country-region w:st="on">America</st1:country-region></st1:place>’s Second Harvest Food Bank Network.<SPAN style="mso-spacerun: yes"> </SPAN>The Food Reservoir channels donated products to area soup kitchens, pantries, homeless shelters, day care centers and other nonprofit food programs that feed the needy.<o:p></o:p></SPAN></P>
