RoughRiders Open Tryout Camp Thursday
<p>May 30, 2006- The Cedar Rapids RoughRiders will hold their 2006 tryout camp this weekend at the Cedar Rapids Ice Arena. Approximately 80 players will take part in the camp, which begins Thursday evening at 5:00PM.</p>
<p>Most prominent among the camp participants are 11 returnees from last year’s East Division-winning Cedar Rapids team. Goaltender Pat McGann is among the returning Riders. Veteran forwards Dan Barczuk, Jacob Cepis, Dustin Cloutier, Sean Dolan, Andy Miele and Ian Slater will also skate in camp, as will returning defensemen Brett Dickinson, Evan Stephens, Kevin Wehrs and Scott Wietecha. Another returnee, defenseman Sergei Kolosov, remains on the team’s protected list but will not travel from his native Belarus for the camp.</p>
<p>This weekend will also mark the first chance for Riders fans to catch a glimpse of David Grun, who was the Riders’ top pick earlier this month in the United States Hockey League draft.</p>
<p>After a trio of Thursday evening practice sessions, players will be divided into four teams that will play three games each beginning Friday morning. The teams will be changed before a further pair of games Saturday evening. The camp closes with a final contest Sunday morning. </p>
<p>All tryout camp sessions are free and open to the public.</p>
