Safety Netting Installed At Cedar Rapids Ice Arena

November 11, 2004- Safety netting has been installed in front of the end sections at the Cedar Rapids Ice Arena. The netting will be in place for a Cedar Rapids RoughRiders game for the first time this Saturday night when the RoughRiders host the Green Bay Gamblers.

“NHL, AHL, ECHL, and CHL teams have made this type of netting mandatory in all of their venues, and the vast majority of United States Hockey League venues have done this also. This is something that will make our venue safer and make watching RoughRiders action more enjoyable for our fans,” said RoughRiders Vice President of Operations Jim Calpin. "It’s just like sitting behind home plate at a baseball game. Once the game starts, you don't even know its there."

Fans with questions or concerns about the safety netting are encouraged to call the RoughRiders at (319) 247-0340.

The RoughRiders (8-3-1, 17 points) are currently in first place in the United States Hockey League’s East Division. Saturday’s game, which begins at 7:05PM, marks the beginning of a four game home stand for the Riders.

Tickets for Saturday’s game and all remaining RoughRiders first half home dates are now on sale at the Cedar Rapids Ice Arena ticket office. Tickets can be purchased over the phone at (319) 261-4625 or in person at the ice arena. The ticket office is open from noon to 5:00PM on weekdays and from noon through the end of the second period on game days. Ticket prices range from $8.00 to $17.00 including a 50-cent facility fee.
| Posted on Thursday, November 11, 2004 (Archive on Thursday, November 11, 2004)
