RoughRiders’ Rockwell Collins Warm-Up Jersey Auction Raises $2,395; Proceeds to Benefit United Way
<p>March 30, 2006- The Cedar Rapids RoughRiders raised $2,395 in a special live jersey auction benefiting the United Way last Friday night at the Cedar Rapids Ice Arena. </p>
<p>The Rockwell Collins warm-up jerseys worn by the Riders prior to each regular season home game went up for bid immediately following the Riders’ final regular season home game, a 3-0 shutout of the Chicago Steel.</p>
<p>“We are very thankful to our fans for the generosity they showed last Friday” said RoughRiders Vice President of Operations Jim Calpin. “We would also like to extend our thanks to Rockwell Collins for their sponsorship of these jerseys and for joining with us in supporting the United Way.”</p>
<p>Rider forward Phil Axtell’s jersey drew the highest bid- $375- last Friday.</p>
<p>The RoughRiders return home for games two and three of their best-of-five opening round Clark Cup playoff series against Indiana this Friday and Saturday. Both games start at 7:05PM. The Riders lost the series opener 4-3 in overtime Tuesday night in Indianapolis.</p>
<p>If a fourth game is necessary, it will be played in Indianapolis on Thursday, April 6. Should the series go the full five games, the Riders would host the deciding contest on Saturday, April 8 at 7:05PM. </p>
<p>The Riders are fresh off a second straight East Division title. The Riders (33-21-6, 72 points) finished tied for first in the east with the Des Moines Buccaneers. </p>
<p>Tickets for this weekend’s playoff games are on sale at the Cedar Rapids Ice Arena ticket office. Tickets can be purchased over the phone at (319) 261-4625, in person at the ice arena or on line at www.roughridershockey.com. The ticket office is open from noon to 5:00PM on weekdays and from noon through the end of the second period on game days. Playoff ticket prices range from $8 to $18 including a 50-cent facility fee. </p> |
