Potential Time Change for RoughRiders’ Year-End Banquet

March 23, 2006- The Cedar Rapids RoughRiders’ seventh annual year-end banquet will be moved to 11:00AM next Monday if the RoughRiders are matched up with the Indiana Ice in the first round of the United States Hockey League’s Clark Cup playoffs. The banquet was originally scheduled for 6:00PM next Monday.

A potential series between the Riders and Ice would begin next Tuesday in Indiana, in which case the Riders would leave Cedar Rapids for Indianapolis on Monday afternoon. The Riders enter the final weekend of the regular season tied for first place in the USHL’s East Division, while the Ice is fourth in the east. If the Riders win the division and Indiana holds on to the fourth- and final- playoff spot in the division, the clubs would be meet in the opening round and the banquet time would be changed.

The banquet will start at 6:00PM as originally planned if the RoughRiders finish second (in which case they would face the Green Bay Gamblers in the opening round) or if the Waterloo Black Hawks overtake the Ice in the race for fourth place.

If the banquet time is changed, fans who have bought tickets but are unable to attend at the new time will be entitled to a full refund. The Banquet will be held at the El Kahir Shrine Club at 1400 Blairs Ferry Road NE. Fans with questions about the banquet are encouraged to call the RoughRiders’ business office at (319) 247-0340.

Despite being the higher seed in a potential series against the Ice, the Riders would open the series on the road because the grounds of the Indiana State Fair- where the Ice’s home rink, Pepsi Coliseum, is located- will be taken over by the Hoosier Horse Fair and Expo later next week.

The Riders (32-19-6, 70 points) close out the regular season with a home-and-home series against the Chicago Steel this weekend. The Riders host the Steel tomorrow night at 7:05 before traveling to Bensenville, Illinois for the rematch 24 hours later.

Tickets for tomorrow night’s game are on sale at the Cedar Rapids Ice Arena ticket office. Tickets can be purchased over the phone at (319) 261-4625, in person at the ice arena or on line at www.roughridershockey.com. The ticket office is open from noon to 5:00PM on weekdays and from noon through the end of the second period on game days. Ticket prices range from $7.00 to $17.00 including a 50-cent facility fee. Seats for the Riders’ first two Clark Cup playoff games are also now available at the ticket office. Playoff ticket prices range from $8 to $18.
