RoughRiders Get Trimmed, Donate Hair to Locks of Love
<p>March 20, 2006- All of the Cedar Rapids RoughRiders yesterday had their hair cut and donated their shorn locks to Locks of Love. </p>
<p>The Riders, many of whom had previously sported ample manes of hair and now all have identical shorter cuts, teamed up with Tan Etc. Salon and Spa to make their unique donation. </p>
<p>Locks of love is a non-profit organization that provides hairpieces to financially disadvantaged children 18 years and younger suffering from long-term medical hair loss. Locks of Love meets a unique need for children by using donated hair to create the highest quality hair prosthetics.</p>
<p>“This is certainly an original and thoughtful donation on the part of our players,” said RoughRiders Vice President of Operations Jim Calpin. “We are thrilled to be able to work together with Tan Etc. to make this possible.”</p>
<p>Tan Etc. has two Cedar Rapids locations, one at 5761 C Street SW and the other at 1950 Dodge Road NE.</p>
<p>The Riders (32-19-6, 70 points) play their final two regular season home games this week. The Riders face the Sioux Falls Stampede tomorrow evening and will take on the Chicago Steel Friday night. Both games face off at 7:05PM</p>
<p>Tickets for both of the Riders’ remaining regular season home games are on sale at the Cedar Rapids Ice Arena ticket office. Tickets can be purchased over the phone at (319) 261-4625, in person at the ice arena or on line at www.roughridershockey.com. The ticket office is open from noon to 5:00PM on weekdays and from noon through the end of the second period on game days. Ticket prices range from $7.00 to $17.00 including a 50-cent facility fee. Seats for the Riders’ first two Clark Cup playoff games are also now available at the ticket office. Playoff ticket prices range from $8 to $18.</p> |
