RoughRiders Playoff Tickets on Sale Today; Tickets For First Two Post Season Games Available

March 16, 2006- Tickets for the Cedar Rapids RoughRiders’ first two Clark Cup playoff games will go on sale to the general public today at noon at the Cedar Rapids Ice Arena ticket office, the RoughRiders announced.

Playoff tickets will be available for purchase over the phone at 261-4625, in person at the ice arena and on line at www.roughridershockey.com. Playoff ticket prices range from $8 to $18. Tickets for potential further Rider playoff games will go on sale at a later date.

The first round of the playoffs will start no earlier than Tuesday, March 28 and will end no later than Saturday, April 8. All playoff series are best-of-five. The Riders’ magic number for clinching home ice advantage in the first round of the playoffs is one. That is, any point gained in the standings by the Riders or not collected by the Green Bay Gamblers will result in the Riders’ wrapping up home ice for the opening round.

Because the first round playoff schedule will only be finalized at or just before the end of the regular season, playoff tickets will be designated as good for “game A”, “game B”, etc. Exact dates, times and opponents for playoff games will be announced as soon as they are finalized.

Tickets to the Riders’ first four playoff games are already included in season ticket holders’ packages.

The Riders (32-18-5, 69 points) clinched their sixth straight playoff berth on March 3. The Riders are one point ahead of the Des Moines Buccaneers in the race for first place in the United States Hockey League’s East Division.

The Riders are the defending Clark Cup champions, having won the title for the first time in team history last year. The Clark Cup is symbolic of supremacy in American junior hockey and is presented annually to the playoff champions of the USHL, the nation’s only Tier I junior league.

The Riders return to action with a pair of home games this weekend. The Riders face the Tri-City Storm Friday evening and will take on the Lincoln Stars Saturday night. Both games face off at 7:05PM
