<p>March 11, 2006- Evan Stephens scored two goals and Chad Costello made team history with the game winner as the host RoughRiders defeated the Green Bay Gamblers 4-1 Saturday night.</p>
<p>Stephens broke a scoreless tie at 2:16 of the second period when his drive from the right point broke in off Green Bay goaltender Eddie Neville.</p>
<p>The Riders were on the power play when Costello scored his team record-setting twenty-eight goal of the season at 7:18 of the second. Costello’s wrist shot from the right wing circle whistled just inside the far goal post. With that strike Costello broke the old club single season record of 27 goals he had shared with three other players (Nate Meyers, Justin Abdelkader and Matt Vokes).</p>
<p>Green Bay pulled within a goal with just under half a minute left in the second period. Sean Backman batted the puck between Rider goaltender Al Stalock’s pads from the slot to get the Gamblers on the scoreboard.</p>
<p>The Riders, however, did a superb job of limiting Green Bay’s chances in the third period before putting the Gamblers away with a pair of late goals.</p>
<p>Stephens provided the insurance goal at 16:13 when his wrister from the right point was deflected past Neville.</p>
<p>After Green Bay emptied the net for an extra attacker with just under two minutes remaining, the Riders quickly capitalized. Gary Steffes set up Dan Barczuck for the empty net goal at 18:31 of the third.</p>
